When in New York City, street food served by street vendors from their carts seems to be quite popular. And one of the best types of street food that you can get in New York City is real spicy chili made just the way Texas cooks like 'em - sold by Daisy May's Chili Cart at different locations (namely the corner of 50th Street and Sixth Avenue; 39th Street and Broadway; and somewhere in the vicinity of 40 Wall Street.)

You would think that New York City residents would hesitate to dig into Texas-style chili sold by a street vendor, wouldn't you? Ah, but the difference is that Daisy May's Chili Cart is headed by a young upstart chef trained by the great Daniel Boulud - a chef named Adam Perry Lang. Lang is banking on the desire of Wall Street financiers (and other midtown New Yorkers) for genuine spicy chili made with chunks of chuck meat cuts (as large as casino dice and quite juicy into the bargain), which is cooked in chilies (particularly New Mexican hatch) which give spiciness a new meaning. One serving weighs in at 12 ounces, and is served with a flour tortilla and special hot sauce made in-house by Lang's outfit. If you want beans with your chili, you might be suspected of being from Cincinnati (but we'll let that pass.) The point is, street food of this type is so good that Daisy May's Chili Cart has been named among the top restaurants of New York City (and it isn't even a proper restaurant at that - maybe a pseudo restaurant at best.) If you want a quick meal that is very filling, then head for one of the three Daisy May's Chili Cart vendors located around New York City.

A serving of chili from Daisy May's Chili Cart will cost you $6 each, which may be considered a bit steep for one serving of chili. But this street vendor chain is banking on demand to lend a bit of acceptance to such a high price for chili street food. Some say that one serving of chili from Daisy May's Chili Cart is more satisfying than food served by delis on Times Square for the same price. By the way, there is actually a Daisy May's restaurant on the corner of 46th Street and 11th Avenue - but this restaurant offers barbecue (perhaps as highly priced as the chili you get from the street carts, but just as good.) At times, the Daisy May's Chili Cart will also serve pulled pork sandwiches as well as Texas chopped brisket sandwiches, as well as very nice hot chocolate, but most of the time it's the chili that keeps people coming back again and again.

Street food such as that from the Daisy May's Chili Cart vendors serve as reminders that good food need not be of so-so quality. More and more New York City entrepreneurs are venturing into operating pushcarts that offer high-quality food that tastes great and can be easily bought while you are on the go.

If you don't want to visit New York maybe you can travel to the second best city in the world instead, Paris :-) We recommend these two websites for information about Paris: Paris Hotel : Disneyland Paris shuttle
